Acceptable use policy

This policy forms part of the terms of service. It sets out what Movespan may be used for and, more importantly, what it may not.

What it is for
Reading how a garment is cut, from a photograph of that garment lying flat and unworn, in order to understand which movements its construction can take. Personal use and commercial use are both fine.
High-risk uses — prohibited

Movespan must not be used, in whole or in part, as an input to any decision in the following areas:

  • Medical — diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, or any clinical decision
  • Legal — legal advice or any determination of legal rights
  • Financial — lending, insurance underwriting or investment
  • Safety — protective, occupational or life-safety equipment assessment
  • Employment — hiring, evaluation, promotion or dismissal
  • Credit — creditworthiness or credit terms
  • Housing — tenancy or housing decisions
  • Judicial — any judicial or law enforcement determination

This service reads the construction of clothing. It is not evidence of anything else and must not be used as though it were.

Images of people — prohibited

You may upload only a photograph of a garment lying flat and unworn. You may not upload a photograph containing any person, whether worn or not, whether identifiable or not.

There is no upload path on this site for such an image. Any image in which a face or a figure is detected is rejected before analysis, and repeated attempts will close the account. This is the boundary the whole service is built around and it is not negotiable.

Health and training — outside scope
Do not use Movespan to seek advice about pain, injury, rehabilitation, technique, programming or fitness. It has none to give, it will not attempt to give any, and requests containing such language are stopped before analysis and referred to a physiotherapist or a doctor.
Content you may not upload
  • Any image containing a person.
  • Any image you do not have the right to upload.
  • Illegal content of any kind.
  • Content designed to extract, alter or interfere with the service.
Technical restrictions
  • No automated scraping, bulk extraction or resale of the service.
  • No attempt to bypass credit allowances, plan limits or the upload restrictions.
  • No reverse engineering of the service or use of it to build a competing product.
  • No probing, scanning or testing the security of the service without written permission.
  • No sharing of account credentials.
Age
Movespan is not offered to anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child under 13.
Enforcement
We may suspend or close an account that breaches this policy. Where it is practical to do so we will tell you first. Breaches involving images of people are acted on immediately.
